Macros Versus Intuitive Eating

I haven’t always tracked my macros consistently.⁣
⁣⁣
I know if my workouts are longer, I’m doing high intensity work, or I’m feeling fatigued I need more carbohydrates in my diet. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I know I need ample fat in my diet for healthy hormone balance, for cholesterol is the precursor of the 5 major classes of steroid hormones. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I know I need an adequate amount of protein to retain & gain lean muscle mass. You don’t get “tone” with no protein in your diet. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Macros & calories are simply units of measurement…the differences in the food you consume are the nutrient content & how your body metabolizes those foods. We all have different needs. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Sometimes we use food as a numbing mechanism. Like alcohol, sex, over exercising. The difference is in the why. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
People stress out so much about tracking macros they lose their ability to intuitively figure out what their body needs. You guys get so wrapped up in rest days, high days, cheat days, carb cycling, keto, gluten free, carnivore, vegan, title this & that you forget your body only knows if it’s nourished or not. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Or you fall for marketing schemes & following the leader like all gluten-free food is healthy & you’re like I dunno wtf gluten even is or because Sally down the road is vegan you think you need to be too. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Guess what? Oreos are vegetarian & certain bags of candy are gluten-free, so that makes them “healthy” right? ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Macros are phenomenal tools for food awareness. I use them periodically, many of my clients love using them because they work for their personality & lifestyle. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I feel we can become way too obsessive & lose our natural ability to trust ourselves. Which transforms into us dieting our way through life. ⁣⁣
Don’t be the girl/guy dieting & labeling their way through life. Educate yourselves. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I was that girl that made taking up less space in this world her Band-Aid to happiness, it didn’t work. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So my purpose & hope is to be the voice to educate you with the tools you need to nourish your body & give it the food it deserves to function & feel it’s best. Without labels so you can save your energy being a badass & loving life.⁣⁣
