Blyss Method Premier!

Blyss Method Premier!

Last week I was able to virtually join the premiere of BLYSS Method, and it was fantastic! The BLYSS Method was developed by Alyssa Kuzins who has a background teaching yoga. BLYSS stands for “beats to liberate your somatic self” or in simpler terms, music to free the body. The class incorporates elements from many styles of exercise such as yoga flow, strength training, intuitive dance (not choreographed) and breath work.
The class was more challenging than I had originally expected. There was a great mix of fast paced movements and slower periods of movement. The class started with some breath work to really connect breath to the body.

The next section of the class was fast paced and included Pilates-like movements combined with freestyle dance breaks. I am NOT a dancer, but because you get to move in whatever way feels good to you, I actually enjoyed it! By the end of this section I was seriously sweating. Class slowed down a bit with a little sensual movement and ended with some yoga flow and some stretches to loosen up the hips.
After we all got some exercise, we sat down to have a conversation. The premier event ended with a panel discussion about the “whitewashed” wellness industry and how we can do better in this space. This was an opportunity to listen to guest speakers and hear about their experiences in the industry. Huge shout out to Alyssa for using her platform to start a hard conversation that needs talked about more in Pittsburgh.
I can’t wait for Blyss to go live and am so ready for more!
