Instructor Insight: Vivian Mach

What classes do you teach & where?
Since the start of Covid I’ve launched my own business and platform, Machasana, to teach virtual Vinyasa and Yin classes! On Wednesdays my furbaby friendly Down Dog Donation class’s give part of the proceeds to animal shelters in the Seattle Area. On Fridays I have a 90’s themed Vinyasa class! I also teach private classes that range from 1-10 people. Otherwise every weekday at 5:30PM you can flow with me from the comfort of your living room!

How did you get into the fitness industry?
Coming from an education background I’ve always loved teaching. I thought combining my love of being in a classroom and my love of yoga would be the best of both worlds. So I signed up for a Power Vinyasa Teacher Training when I moved up here in Seattle in 2016 and haven’t looked back since!

What’s your one piece of advice for someone who wants to live a healthier life?
I always tell my students that every body is different, so not all yoga poses will look the same across the board. I feel like this is the same for one’s journey to a healthier life. Focus on what works for you- whether it be getting in longer walks, eating more veggies, or taking a hot yoga class- and unapologetically hold your space. We don’t look the same, so there’s no reason we should all be on the same journey.

What’s your bucket list travel destination?
Great Exuma in the Bahamas!

What’s your favorite podcast or book?
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

If you could bring one thing on a deserted island what would it be and why?
