Hi everyone! My name is Sam Doorn and I was lucky enough to win the year membership at TITLE Boxing Grandville!!! Before working out at TITLE, my exercise routine was basically non-existent. I would go through spurts of being super into fitness and healthy eating and then months of not exercising at all. Starting this membership and knowing that it’s a one-year commitment has motivated me to make a lifestyle change.
TITLE has given me the chance to gain skills about technique in boxing. I knew absolutely nothing about boxing when I started, but it’s not expected that you do. The coaches, and honestly other people in the class, are more than willing to teach you the basic punches and technique. As I continue my membership, I hope to improve on my boxing skills, but also gain skills about working out in general. I haven’t had the chance to try every trainer, but quickly came to love John G and Jordan’s classes! Both of these coaches are not only motivating, but also high-energy. They both push you to go further than you thought you could go.
Even though the classes are fun, they all come with challenges. For me, the biggest challenge is finishing the workout with a plank. I absolutely despise planks, so it’s my favorite challenge because I am not only proud of myself for staying up as long as I can, but also for even doing a plank in the first place. As I continue taking classes at TITLE, I have four set goals that I want to accomplish. Goal one is to find a consistent schedule so that I can easily balance work and working out without the stress of trying to squeeze in a class last minute. Goal two is to take a class for every single coach. TITLE has an app that lets you know the time and coach for each class, so it’s easy to keep track of! Goal three is to work my way up to the kickboxing class. Goal four is to attend at least one 5:30am class. I am 1000% not a morning person, but really want to get into the habit of starting the day off feeling accomplished and ready to take on whatever life throws at me. 5:30am here I come!
