After joining SweatNet in August and finding out about all the fantastic exercise opportunities they offered, I quickly discovered that yoga and barre were two of my favorites. Though I have always loved yoga, I hadn’t consistently practiced since taking an elective PE class in high school over 15 years ago! I wanted to get back to it on a regular basis and Heights Yoga Project has been a perfect fit for me!
When I was contacted about winning a year membership at Heights Yoga Project, I couldn’t wait to get started! Niki Corcoran, the founder, reached out to me right away and has been such a pleasure to work with! She set everything up and invited me to look at the schedule to find a class I was interested in joining. I decided to give barre a try first because even though I only had limited experience in that area, I knew it was something I wanted to try again.
The first class was challenging, yet also so rewarding. The instructor and classmates were welcoming and motivational and the studio is peaceful and calming. After getting that first taste, I’ve made it a point to continue attending a barre class on a weekly basis. I can feel myself getting stronger with each class and that allows me to leave the studio with a healthy mindset and a feeling of accomplishment.
Showing up and being part of the Heights Yoga Project community has started this year off on the right foot. After having some recent ups and downs in life, I was determined to better my mental and physical health. I made the decision to get myself moving and get on a regular workout schedule. Putting aside time for myself has truly helped me feel happier and gave me back the energy I felt I had been lacking. I’m just getting started and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for me!
