My name is Melissa and I live and I am originally from Concord, NC. Since the age of 5, I took and competed in dance. I played various sports and was a very active child. I did well in school with a 4.0 GPA. I didn’t begin to practice yoga till college at UNC-Charlotte, where I earned a minor in Dance. For several years, I was in the corporate world and decided that it was not for me. When I received an unexpected layoff, I decided to reevaluate my life and return to fitness and focus mostly on yoga. I completed my 200hr Power Yoga Teacher Training in May 2013. I attended Level One and studied with Baron Baptiste in August 2013 and completed the Art of Assisting program through Baron Baptiste in February 2014. In the spring of 2014, I became a Grounded Kids’ Yoga teacher and a certified Prenatal Teacher. In March of 2016, I completed my AAFA Primary Group Exercise Certification and Healthways, Inc. Silver Sneakers Certificate of Completion in Yoga and Classic. In 2017, I decided to complete my second 200hr yoga teacher training with LifePower Yoga so I could complete the 300hr LifePower Teacher Training in 2018. My goal is to provide a challenging yet fun class, giving my students an opportunity to realize their potential. Also, to promote yoga to kids, to expectant moms during their pregnancies, and to the older population. I currently teach yoga and fitness classes at Lifetime Fitness-University, Matthews, and Charlotte. Outside of yoga, I am married to my husband, Justin. I have a beautiful 10-year-old daughter named Kassidy and a wonderful step son named Sam who is in middle school. I enjoy watching General Hospital, since the age of 5 and reading romance novels. I love to vacation at the beach in South Carolina or Florida.
