Founded in 2010, The GFB aims to produce ridiculously tasty, protein-packed bars, snack bites, and oatmeal using simple, quality ingredients that are non-GMO verified, vegan, certified gluten-free, certified kosher, and mostly organic. Everything that The GFB produces is crafted in their own facility utilizing a local workforce with a focus on creating a sustainable business that benefits their team members, community, and customers.
With such a strong commitment to sustainability, The GFB became a Certified B-Corp in 2015. This means that they meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. One environmental program they have been especially focused on is their goal to become a certified zero-waste food production facility. To accomplish this, The GFB must divert 9 out of every 10 pounds of waste away from landfills through recycling, reuse, upcycling or composting. Through these efforts, The GFB managed to divert nearly 100 tons (200,000 lbs) away from landfills in 2020. One other program that The GFB is especially proud of is its Inclusive Hiring program. Over 40% of their production team members are people that have traditionally faced barriers to employment such as returning citizens (formerly incarcerated individuals).
