Since moving full-time down to Charlotte, I’ve  heard nothing but great things about Burn Boot Camp. The people who I know that go, RAVE about it, and those who don’t go, also know the highly-regarded reputation the franchise has. My first experience at Burn Boot camp Tega Cay, did not disappoint.

Walking into BBC Tega Cay, I was greeted by an elevated blue spring floor that takes up most of the space, while the sides of the stage-like floor are bordered by exercise equipment such as TRX ropes, medicine balls, free weights, and Bosu Balls lined down the middle of the floor. There is also the most motivating wall I’ve ever seen, filled with client  success stories, showing individuals whose lives changed drastically for believing in themselves and the Burn Boot Camp process. From the minute the instructor, Antigone, walked out, I could tell that this class was going to be a good one. She immediately encouraged partner-work and team-like mentality, with a paired warm-up and numerous high-fives doled out.

The rest of the class was in the style of High-Intensity Interval training, where groups of no more than 3 rotated between 7 different exercises. Modifications were offered for each exercise and there wasn’t a slight sense of judgement from anyone in the room if you took a modification (which I did, a couple of times). We went through the rotation twice, doing each exercise for 45 seconds, with 15 seconds of rest.

Along with the intense and rewarding workout, my absolute favorite part of this studio was the atmosphere. Everyone was so encouraging, especially to the 3 other new individuals in  the class. Antigone truly knows how to motivate her class participants to keep going and fight through that cramp until it’s overcome, and her encouragement is contagious.

Another fun fact about the space, is that the head trainer and owner, Antigone, and trainer, Caitlyn, are a mother-daughter-fitness duo!

Overall, my time at Burn Boot Camp really kicked my butt in the best way possible. It was an awesome class, that really got me sweating and feeling good about myself.
